    Olive oil
    Greece produces more than 430,000 tons of olive oil annually, and more than 75% of that is extra virgin. Greek olive oil is exported throughout the world.

    Olive oil plays a unique role in the Greek diet, being the basis of many traditional dishes.

    Honey
    Honey in Greece is mainly flower-honey from the nectar of fruit and citrus trees (lemon, orange, bigarade trees), thyme honey, and pine honey from conifer trees.

    Mastic
    Mastic is grown on the Aegean island of Chios.

    Ouzo
    Ouzo (a.c. ~ 40%) is an alcoholic aperitif similar to the French pastis.

    Cheeses
    Feta: A semi-soft, crumbly, brined white cheese made from goat or sheep milk.

    Kasseri: a medium hard yellow cheese made from sheep or goat milk

    Kefalotyri: A hard and very salty cheese, used mainly for grating and serving with pasta.

    Graviera: A Greek version of Gruyere, it is served with meals or used for grating and serving with pasta.

    Manouri: An unsalted soft white cheese served on its own or used in savoury or sweet pies, like Mizithra.

    Mizithra: An unsalted soft cheese made from sheep milk. Served on its own or used in sweet or savoury pies.

    CAPITAL ATHENS

    Athens is the capital of Greece and one of the most famous cities in the world. Modern Athens is a large and cosmopolitan city; Ancient Athens was a powerful city-state and renowned center of learning. It was named after its goddess from ancient Greek mythology, Athena. Athens is located at 38°00'N 23°43'E (38.00°, 23.72°).

    The metropolitan area of Athens is home to some 3.5 million people. Currently the city (metropolitan area) is growing eastwards across Attica (Greater Athens). Athens is the centre of economic, cultural, and political life in Greece today.

    Athens has often been called the cradle of Western civilization due to its cultural achievements during the 4th and 5th centuries BC, which has left it with many ancient buildings, monuments and artworks, the most famous being the Acropolis, which is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Classical Greek art and architecture. Many of these cultural attractions were renovated for the 2004 Olympic Games.

    Greek restaurant is a winner among taste buds
    Firehouse Grill greets its visitors with the smell of charcoal grilled meat, soft Greek music, and a friendly atmosphere. Upon arrival, I found a nice, small two-story building with blue windows and a restaurant on the first floor. It was nice to find the restaurant had its own parking.
